September the 1st (29th on streaming platforms) sees the release of a new EP by Mrcorbett. The idea for it came together very quickly and the four songs that feature on it are amongst the most 'out there' i've ever recorded! Here is the lowdown on those songs.

Track One The Invincible Species - 2020 has been without doubt the strangest and saddest year of many of our lives with Covid19 decimating our lives. As a songwriter I naturally want to put my two penneth worth into this still almost unbelievable global event. I personally believe it to be lab made and also its effects grossly over exaggerated. The reason I believe this is that I think the Earth is in greater peril from climate change and the runaway greenhouse gasses that did for Venus. I think this virus will be used to halt or temper this destruction until the planet is showing signs of improvement. I think the fires in Australia late last year were the final straw and our leaders had to act and they chose this very easy way of change. Suddenly nobody was dying of anything else, a perfect solution to get the human race back under control, make them fear the one thing that will stop the vast majority and make them rethink what life itself means, Death is a great weapon. This song sticks my oar into the Covid debate!

Track Two B-Side The Smoocher - As a complete contrast to the lead track, here we enter into full blown Mrcorbett comedy mode. I love to write ridiculous and somewhat surreal Poetry and this song is straight from that part of my mind! Imagine the Bonzo Dog Dooh Dah Band with Jimi Hendrix on a bad day on Lead Guitar and you will have an idea of what to expect if you hit play! Dedicated to Neil Innes the great Songwriter behind the Bonzo's who sadly passed away earlier this year. Another great loss in this most wretched of years.

Track Three Vindolanda - From comedy we turn to fantasy and this epic folk rocker about a mythical battle between a tribal leader and the Empire of Rome. Vindolanda Roman Fort in Cumbria is still a magnificent place to be at, even in its ruined state, and I have spent many a happy hour walking and taking in its majesty for many years now. I just had to write a song that featured this amazing place and this tale sprang from my mind in 2016. This version is a 2020 remix with improved drumming and vocals, also clarity and power thanks to the plug ins I use now on my songs.

Track Four Feed The Fire - Finally we come to this bleak and powerful retro rocker, which bemoans the tragic state of our planet. I like most do the best I can to live as clean and non destructive life as possible, but some people live only for wealth and power and don't give a fuck about what they destroy to get what they want. We humans think we are The Invincible Species and if we carry on this current path, we will soon discover that like all our fellow lifeforms, we are not!
